Kassel City Council planned to enlarge and modernise the city museum as well as reorganise the collection. The first step was a two-stage architectural competition. In order to formulate the competition brief, bogner.cc refined the museum concept presented by the museum in April 2008, elaborated the museological requirements regarding architectural and technical planning, and developed a spatial and functional programme based on the “Masterplan Staedtische Museen Kassel” by HHS Planer + Architekten AG (August 2008).
