In 1997, bogner.cc created a museum master plan for the Universalmuseum Joanneum, which also included the reorganisation of the natural sciences collections. After developing a spatial and functional programme, a detailed concept was created together with the museum team over a period of several years. Throughout an exhibition space of 1,500 m2, it envisioned an exciting interactive presentation of topics belonging to the fields of geology and palaeontology, mineralogy, botany and zoology.
The permanent exhibition on the 2nd floor of the museum is divided into two large sections, “Earth Sciences” and “Life Sciences”, with each room being dedicated to a specific topic. Together with the Graz Children’s Museum, bogner.cc designed a long line of interactive terminals and hands-on stations, specifically targeted at younger visitors and encouraging active involvement. On the 1st floor, visitors can find an exhibition focusing on renewable energies and recycling, and gain access to the popular display mine. The other rooms provide space for themed exhibitions from the museums collections, which are changed every one to two years.
The Natural History Museum was reopened in spring 2013 as part of the Joanneumsviertel in the centre of Graz.
