A new building is to be erected for the central museum in the Perm region. bogner.cc prepared the museological basis for the international architecture competition as well as guidelines for the collection reorganisation. The jury’s result: the equally weighted first and second prizes were awarded to architects Bernaskoni (Moscow) and Valerio Olgiati (Switzerland).
The Perm State Art Gallery houses applied arts from early advanced civilisations to contemporary, art by European Old Masters, Russian art to the present, and an outstanding collection of wooden sculptures made in Perm, which are characteristic for Russian folk art, particularly in this region.
Since the first half of the 20th century, the collection has been exhibited in the former Perm Cathedral, which is now to be returned to the church. The new building for the gallery’s collections shall put Perm onto the international museum map and, as a modern museum, become the cultural centre of the city and region.
