“Frederick Kiesler: Co-Realities” was the first presentation in the USA for 20 years to focus on the central role of drawing in the work of visionary architect, artist, designer and theoretician Friedrich Kiesler.
The exhibition used key pieces from the 1940s to 1960s to show Kiesler’s powerful work during his conceptual focus on the medium of drawing. Visitors could see more than 30 drawings showing Friedrich Kiesler’s decade-long investigation into the correlation between man, nature, and technology. Especially featured were pieces related to Kiesler’s pioneering work in the field of exhibition design, such as Peggy Guggenheim’s “Art of This Century” gallery in New York (1942) as well as drawings from his observational studies.
On March 2nd 2009, the exhibition at the Drawing Center in New York was awarded the prize “BEST SHOW OF A NON-PROFIT SPACE” by the American International Association of Art Critics (AICA) for the 2007/2008 season.
