Curators Dieter Bogner and Martina Kandeler-Fritsch chose an unusual location – the former Piarist College (now Kunstverein) in Horn–for the presentation of the works of Franz West and Heimo Zobernig. An ensemble of seats and platforms was installed in a large barrel-vaulted room.
The seating created by Franz West using scrap metal was placed on simple platforms, which Heimo Zobernig designed especially for the exhibition.
The artist encouraged visitors to use the furniture, while their placement on platforms prompted visitors to perceive the pieces as artworks. The combination of the choice of materials and the style of presentation meant that the installation led the viewer to question what is simply a practical object and what is art.
