The rough concept is divided into two main sections. The first part, the spatial and functional programme, develops the spatial, functional and technical guidelines for an attractive new presentation of the art collections in combination with the historical residential rooms in the “Weissenstein” wing on a total exhibition space of 9,000 m2. The second part draws up an integrated model for connecting the art and history collections (painting gallery, treasury, antique collection) using thematic rooms, which provide an insight into the cultural and historical context of the collectors and their collections.
The detailed concept for the “Weissenstein” wing elaborates a narrative for the restored landgrave apartment, that is directly linked to the history of the aristocratic owners of Schloss Wilhelmshoehe and the cultural context around 1800.
