A bell tower was built in the centre of Pamhagen in 1639 and was in use until 1921. From 1921 on, it then fell into a state of increasing disrepair. To save the town's landmark from further ruin and put it to new use, bogner.knoll was commissioned to develop a concept for redesigning this small but important attraction. Three screens inside the tower now display scenes from Pamhagen's history and highlight the town's special geographical location. For example, visitors learn about the bell tower's original use and why it is also known as the "Tuerkenturm" or "Turks' Tower", and about how the region had taken advantage of its border location.
For Katharina Knoll, the redesigned bell tower had to contribute to the town's cultural scene and be aimed not just at the local population, but also at the tourists who cycle the Lake Neusiedl cycle path: it was to raise their awareness of local history and culture.
