The new “o.T.” main exhibition at
Museum Liaunig, conceived by Dieter Bogner, presents a selection of 147 paintings, sculptures, kinetic, digital and acoustic works of art from 76 Austrian artists. They build on the compositionally free, lawfully structured or conceptionally developed handling of elementary shapes, clear colours, simple objects or primary materials. The works are pieces from the Liaunig collection, supplemented by loans from artists, museums and private collections. The collection covers the period from 1950 to the present day and thus provides comprehensive insight into an exciting spectrum of artistic concepts in the field of elementary Austrian art such as could not be seen in recent decades within in the temporal dimension or in such a variety of media. The inclusion of international artists was also deliberately avoided in order to focus on Austrian events. The accompanying catalogue offers the opportunity to develop an individual exhibition concept in the form of a cut-out sheet and thus invites precise analytical consideration and interpretation of the individual works through surprising new combinations.
